Why you'll love this recipe

Treat your tummy right to a naturally gluten-free smoothie that's bursting with vitamins, minerals, and all the good stuff your body needs to feel its best.

This super smoothie has a perfect blend of both tart and sweet flavors- and tastes just like applesauce! And the best part? You can't even taste the spinach!

You can never have too many healthy smoothie recipes. In my house, my husband and I love smoothies with breakfast or as a healthy way to satisfy a sweet tooth!

It's the best way to kickstart your day or give yourself an energy boost when you need it the most!

Ingredients

Make this delicious Sour Green Apple Smoothie with a handful of super healthy ingredients. Here's what you'll need:

  • Green apple. Granny Smith apples add a tart and refreshing flavor to this smoothie. They're also high in Vitamin C, fiber, and antioxidants.
  • Banana. Adds a touch of creaminess, sweetness, and potassium.
  • Spinach. Sneak in some hidden nutrients such as Vitamins A, C, and K, as well as folate and iron.
  • Apple juice. Enhances the apple flavor and also provides Vitamin C and antioxidants.
  • Cinnamon. This warm spice compliments the apples. This smoothie tastes just like cinnamon applesauce!
  • Dates. Pitted dates are used to naturally sweeten this healthy green apple smoothie. They're also a good source of fiber, antioxidants, and potassium.

Step-by-step instructions

Making healthy smoothies for breakfast is my favorite because it's so quick and easy!

This is all you'll need to do:

Put all of the ingredients into a high-speed blender and blend until smooth. That's it! Easy peasy!

If your smoothie is too thick, go ahead and add more apple juice until your desired consistency is reached.

Serving size

This recipe makes roughly 2 small 8-ounce servings or 1 large 16-ounce serving.

Tips & tricks

Pick the best apple. Choose a Granny Smith apple that is both firm and free from bruises.

Enjoy it chilled. For an extra chilly smoothie:

  • Peel, chunk, and freeze the banana
  • Chill the apple juice
  • Refrigerate the apple the night before

Add healthy fats. Throw in half an avocado or a teaspoon of ground flaxseed.

Recommended tools

  • High-speed blender. Make deliciously smooth smoothies with a high-speed blender that is affordable and won't break the bank!

Storage

Store any leftovers in the refrigerator for no more than 48 hours. When you're ready to enjoy the rest of your smoothie, give it a good shake to blend the ingredients back together.
