Why you'll love this recipe
This dip is for all of the caramel apple lovers! We've turned the classic caramel apple into an easy-to-eat finger food. Because this classic fall treat has been revamped, it's perfect for parties, potlucks, and family gatherings.
Easy caramel fruit dip can be whipped up in no time at all. We'll start with a layer of sweetened cream cheese, topped with a thick caramel dip, and garnished with chopped peanuts. Serve this apple dip with cream cheese at room temperature so the layers are perfectly creamy and easier to dip.
This is one of the best dips for apple season. It's a great way to use up an abundance of fresh fall apples!
Ingredients
This easy fall dessert only requires a handful of ingredients. Here's what you'll need:
- Cream cheese
- Powdered sugar
- Vanilla extract
- Caramel dip (Litehouse or Marzetti)
- Chopped peanuts
- Sliced apples for dipping
Step-by-step instructions
This recipe is as easy as 1-2-3. Literally!
For this recipe, I like to use premade caramel dip, such as Litehouse or Marzetti. You can also use caramel sauce (I love Hershey's!) but make sure it's thick.
Go the extra mile, and make a thick homemade caramel dip.
Step 1: Beat the cream cheese in a medium-sized bowl until it's smooth and creamy. Beat in the powdered sugar and vanilla extract. Spread the cream cheese mixture into the bottom of a small serving dish.
Step 2: Pour the thick caramel sauce over the cream cheese mixture. Spread it into an even layer.
Step 3: Finish this yummy dip with a generous amount of chopped peanuts. Serve it up with some sliced apples!
Best apples to use
Any variety will do, but the best choices are Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, Pink Lady, or Fuji. The tartness of the apple pairs perfectly with the sweetness of the cream cheese and caramel sauce.
Don't limit this delicious caramel dip to just apples! Switch it up and use strawberries, grapes, graham crackers, vanilla wafers, and even cookies.
Make it ahead of time
Even though this apple fruit dip takes no time at all, it can be made up to one day in advance. Follow the instructions in the recipe card below. Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate until you need it.
When you're ready to serve your fruit dip, let it come to room temperature so the cream cheese and caramel are perfectly creamy and easier to dip.
I do recommend slicing the apples fresh for the best results.
Tips & tricks
Use room-temperature cream cheese. This will make the cream cheese easier to blend up and will result in a smooth and creamy dip.
Keep the apples from turning brown. Soak the sliced apples in water, lemon juice and water, lemon-lime soda, or pineapple juice.
Switch it up. I love the salty/sweet combination of the peanuts, but you could substitute the chopped peanuts for toffee bits, chocolate chips, or even chopped candy bars.
Recommended tools
- Hand Mixer. This will be the easiest way to make the cream cheese smooth and creamy.
- 9" Oval Baking Dish. This is one of my favorite dishes! It makes a great serving dish and it's the perfect size for casseroles and dips.
Storage
Store any leftover dip in an airtight container and keep it in the refrigerator for up to three days. You can also cover the serving dish in plastic wrap.
