This cake is also known as “Better Than Anything Cake” and just like the name implies, it’s better than anything! This beautifully moist chocolate cake is saturated with caramel sauce and topped with whipped cream, more caramel, chocolate, and toffee pieces. Yum!
We love this cake. Not only is it super simple to make (thanks Betty Crocker!), it’s so moist and yummy too! Sometimes I’ll bake my cakes from scratch, but this one comes out delicious every single time so why mess with perfection? This is also a great recipe for when time is not on my side or there is a surprise party to attend!

To make Better Than Sex Cake, you will need:
- Triple Chocolate Fudge Cake Mix
- Caramel sauce
- Chocolate sauce
- Whipped topping
- English toffee bits
About the Cake Mix
Triple Chocolate Fudge mix is one of my all-time favorites because it has chocolate chunks in the batter! Any chocolate cake mix can be used, just be sure to add 1 cup of chocolate chips to the batter before baking.
The Caramel and Chocolate Sauce
I have found that room-temperature jarred caramel sauce works the best for pouring onto the cake. I specifically use Hershey’s Caramel Topping. It’s easy to spread and you don’t have to scrape it out of the jar. Of course, any topping or sauce will work. I have not tried using caramel or chocolate syrup, although I’m not sure if there’s much of a difference.
The English Toffee Bits can be swapped out for miniature chocolate chips, crushed Oreo’s, Reese’s, nuts, etc. The possibilities are endless!
How to Make Better Than Sex Cake
After the cake has been prepared according to package directions, poke holes into the warm cake using either a skewer or a fork. Pour about 10 ounces of caramel sauce onto the cake, reserving 2 ounces for the top. Spread the caramel evenly across the cake. Refrigerate for at least two hours.
After chilling, spread the whipped topping onto the top of the cake. Drizzle with the chocolate sauce and remaining caramel sauce. Garnish with English toffee bits.
How to Store Better Than Sex Cake
Store in an airtight container for up to 4 to 5 days, if it will even last that long! Every time I make this, it’s gone within two days.
Better Than Sex Cake
- 1 pkg Triple Chocolate Fudge Cake mix prepared according to package directions
- 12 oz caramel sauce divided
- 8 oz whipped topping
- 2 oz chocolate sauce
- 4 oz English toffee bits
- After the cake mix has been prepared, poke holes into the warm cake using a skewer or a fork.
- Pour 10 ounces of caramel sauce onto the cake, reserve 2 ounces for the garnish.
- Refrigerate at least two hours.
- After chilling, spread whipped topping onto the top of the cake. Drizzle with the chocolate sauce and remaining caramel sauce.
- Garnish with English toffee bits.
